Position Summary

Prepare and Serve food to customers, monitor that there is ample food supply in the kitchen, and monitor over-all food services for the site. Implement Infection Control policy. Implement kitchen usage and housekeeping. Perform daily charting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare meals and serves meals in prescribed manner and maintains a clean and orderly kitchen following Infection Control Standards.
  1. Conducts weekly shopping for food items, utilizing the approved shopping list.
  1. Responsible for proper storage, transportation, storage and maintenance of purchased food items.
  1. Purchases other items as requested by the Director, Charge Nurse, Inpatient Office Manager or Program Manager.
  1. Monitors daily food inventory for freshness and to oversee that nothing is out of date.
  1. Maintains and monitors a disaster/emergency food box, supply kitchen.
  1. Performs cleaning activities as designated on Cleaning Log.
  1. Empties all garbage/refuge containers daily.
  1. Disinfects kitchen and serving areas two times per day.
  1. Mops and cleans kitchen floor daily.
  1. Monitors cleanliness and temperature control for food storage areas daily and records.
  1. Monitors and cleans food transport van frequently.
  1. Promotes quality and safety to help maintain a safe and pleasant work environment, follows safety regulations, and actively contributes towards a safe workplace.
  1. Participates in quality management and quality improvement activities.
  1. Positively and actively supports the company, the customer and co-workers.
  1. Participates in preparing and monitoring monthly Inventory Control Logs.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services or Program Manager.

Primary Contacts

  • Constant interaction with ChangePoint Integrated Health personnel, customers, and dietician.
  • Occasional contact with outside provider service agencies.

Position Requisites

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Current Arizona Driver's License.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Comply with a Drug Free workplace.
  • Job restriction clearance
  • Knowledge and ability to define the needs and effects of the customer served.
  • Fingerprint Clearance.

Skills/Abilities

Required:

  • Fluent in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Literate.
  • Ability to prioritize own work.
  • Able to work in crisis orientated work environment.
  • Ability to identify and report any medical or physical emergencies to Charge Nurse.
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple priorities in the kitchen.
  • Ability to monitor and use Universal Precautions in handling of food, linens, and trash.

Preferred:

  • Food service skills.
  • Basic experience working in medical setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control safety principles.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Able to perform physical functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation as necessary.
  • Able to communicate using auditory, visual, written tools or use other service aides for the completion of the work.
  • Able to visually see a computer screen and various kinds of written documents or use other service aides for completion of the work.
  • Able to lift 20 lbs. and pull and push food cart.
  • Negative TB skin test.

Equipment Operation

  • Able to operate kitchen and housekeeping equipment.
  • Able to operate Company vehicle.
  • Ability to use cooking appliances in a safe manner.

Environmental Conditions

  • Cooled and/or heated kitchen and customer area.
  • Occasional incidents of physical aggression from customer towards personnel, peers, and property.
