JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: YOUTH WORKER

STATUS: Non-Exempt

SPECIAL POPULATIONS:

LINES OF AUTHORITY: This position is supervised by the Program Director and/or their designee. This position does not supervise any other personnel. The position may require periodic participation in peer review activities.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision, provides behavior and respite management, psychotherapy and related clinical activities to clinic population. Position may include assistance with crisis intervention for at-risk families. The Youth Worker is expected to cooperate as a team member in the provision of a therapeutic environment that encourages each customer=s emotional growth. This position will be expected to maintain an acceptable level of productivity as measured by billable hours. The Youth Worker is required to meet all standards for clinical documentation.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

E 1. Adhere to personnel policy and comply with agency requirements for ethical and professional behavior.

E 2. Provide one to one, group and behavior management services.

E 3. Assists in implementing and providing behavioral heath treatment.

E 4. Provides recreation, leisure and pro-social skills for patient.

E 5. Provides patient confidentiality.

E 6. As assigned, work with other agencies to provide wrap around services that prevent out of home placement.

E 7. Provides transportation, as assigned.

E 8. This position requires positive and active support of the company, the customer and the co-worker.

E 9. Must participate in quality management and quality improvement activities.

10. Promotes quality and safety to help maintain a safe and pleasant work

environment, follows safety regulations, and actively contributes towards a

safe workplace.

11. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

PRIMARY CONTACTS:

  • Frequent interaction with child customers and their support system, usually their family.
  • Interface as needed with peers and other clinical teams members.
  • Collaboration, as appropriate, with other community resources/referral agencies, with the customer's consent.

POSITION REQUISITES:

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Interest in working with emotionally disturbed children and families.
  • Current Driver's License and proof of auto insurance.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Comply with a Drug Free workplace.
  • Knowledge and ability to define the needs of the customer served.

? For Those Working With Children/Adolescent:

1. Knowledge and training in development stages.

2. Knowledge of behavior management and ability to develop interventions.

Preferred:

  • Experience in an outpatient behavioral health setting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Skills/Abilities

Required:

  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Literate.
  • Able to effectively employ analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of resources available in the community.
  • Experience and training in crisis intervention.
  • Fluent in second language (i.e., Spanish, Navajo).

Physical Requirements

Able to sit for extended periods of time.

Able to speak clearly in ordinary conversation and phone communications.

Able to hear ordinary conversation and phone communications.

Visual capacity necessary to fulfill documentation, responsibilities of job.

Emotional Capabilities

Able to work with customers who are emotionally distressed, in crisis.

Able to work with customers who have been abused or perpetrated abuse.

Able to work with customers who abuse substances.

Equipment Operation

Able to drive a vehicle.

Able to operate general office equipment.

Environmental Conditions

Air conditioned and/or heated office setting or customer homes.

Outdoors.
